PORTLAND ACTION
NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST FORECLOSURES COMES TO PORTLAND
http://occupywallst.org/
LOCATION: 4207 NE 77TH AVE.
Tuesday, December 6th:
10am – Support a neighborhood family in resisting immanent eviction — join our email announcement list: , follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook to get the address as soon as we have it on Monday afternoon.
4pm – Deliver “Keep Us Home For the Holidays” cards to the sheriff’s and county assessor’s office, while singing Anti-Eviction Carols (fancy garb encouraged): 510 SE Hawthorne
These events are being led by We Are Oregon, a group that has been doing incredible work in connecting with the families on the front lines of the foreclosure crisis, and buttressing families’ efforts to stay in their homes. Yes, “their homes.” Not “the homes they’re borrowing from the banks.” Unsettle Portland, a local affiliate of Take Back the Land, is going to show up in support of a community’s right to have control of their land, and we call on all allies to join us. Our intention in the morning is to show this family what level of response they can expect from the broader Portland community when the bank serves its eviction notice.
This is an amazing opportunity to directly demonstrate our solidarity. Let’s make the most of it. Let’s prove the national press wrong when they assert that our movement isn’t connected to the struggle of working families.
Unsettle, decolonize, embody, inhabit.
