The following is a message from the Occupy Portland Education Committee:
Calling all artists!
Occupy Portland is looking for fliers and films for this Black Friday (November 25th). A series of direct actions will be aided by a media rich campaign of independent fliers and super-short films.
What we’re looking for
Material that will make people smile and make impressions. We want solid information about where products come from, what specific big corporations support with the money you spend on them, and all other information that might be important for consumers to know this holiday shopping season.
Fliers:
While PDF files are handy, printed fliers are best. We’re looking for spoofs on ads with coupons for free classes. We’re looking for satire and parody. Full color gets the most attention, but black and white is significantly better than not getting the message out. Leaflets can be handed out and fliers can be posted throughout the city. Please contact the street team for distribution: occupyportlandstreetteam@gmail.com
Short films:
We’re looking for entertaining and educational videos that are less than a minute. Fake commercials, short skits, and cartoons about Santa and his Elves are welcome. Again, we’re not looking to wage war on Christmas, but rather show people how to be a better consumer.
Send an email at with a title telling us you have a Black Friday flier or film.
