They’re cleaning up, along with a few members of the public, the tons of trash, that has piled up over the weeks. I was down there yesterday dismantling the Veteran’s tent and it was a disaster area.

Go home and develop your frontal lobes. The political predators are taking advantage of your youth. While you rot in jail, they will be out there making millions ala Michael Moore, teaching at university, Bernadine Dohrn, William Ayers, becoming the POTUS, Barack Obama. Unless you have a wealthy family or political connections, you are in danger of wasting your youth.

      I speak from bitter experience.

Just got back from downtown…the camp is just about closed for good…a few hold outs but they seem to be partyed out and ready to leave…The Portland police did a very good job but the support had left the homeless camp weeks ago, now we will take back livestream and get rid of those nuts…Now back to OCCUPY WALLSTRTEET

  3. Steven on November 13, 2011 at 11:46 am

Come for what?? To help clean??? “Cause that is what is needed there right now….a through clearing/cleaning/reseeding and gratitude shown through actions to Mother Earth who nestled everyone for weeks.

I’d come for that. I would not come to “occupy” the camp anymore..as it was allowed to degenerate into a dirty, unhealthy, place of drug use and litter….

Next time, please do not allow this to happen this way..those who are occupying must police themselves and expel those who are there just to take.

Thanks to all who were there for the real message and movement to tax the rich!! Much gratitude expressed for that!

      AMEN!

  4. Mark Nesser on November 13, 2011 at 12:11 pm

I’m very sad that the 1% always find a way to get people from the 99% to to give up their ground…

  5. Steve on November 13, 2011 at 12:13 pm

    Hurray.

It’s like Portland has just cleared up some festering fungal infection.

Note to Mr. Adams, when Occupier disease starts, get rid of it right away, otherwise it grows and gets more disgusting.

  6. MJ on November 13, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Go get ‘em Portland PD! Clean out the garbage – all of it! Including the people who don’t want to get out and follow the law…look what the hippies did to Haight-Ashbury! Portland is NOT Haight-Ashbury!!!

  7. Mark on November 13, 2011 at 12:55 pm

A lot of trolls out today! Good, must mean that OWS is making an impact.

As to the camp, I’ll bet there are other places to do the same thing all over! Long live the (non-violent) revolution!

  8. Patice on November 13, 2011 at 1:04 pm

This is sad but I know it’s not the end of it!

  9. Tj on November 13, 2011 at 1:14 pm

Was all in support of this until i saw the areas that are now ruined, muddy and discusting. Here come new taxes to repair what has now been ruined and to pay for the Portland Pd, and trash removal. thanks for ruining these areas where we once enjoyed walking.

  10. Occupy on November 13, 2011 at 1:17 pm

something that might be of interest to you guys. I own the domain occupy.biz and I am going to put it up for sale. if you or anyone in you know is interested email me at

  11. regulargal on November 13, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Please find a better way to protest than standing in streets (blocking traffic and ambulances),ruining parks, killing grass, and leaving trash everywhere. It is in no way an infringement on your right to free speech to ask you to stay on sidewalks. You are a small fraction of the 99%. The rest of us would like our parks cleaned up and streets cleared.

  12. Tiredofhypocrits on November 13, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Seriously, you think drinking your starbucks and smoking your cigarettes while blocking ambulances yelling profanities and spraying graffiti everywhere while throwing trash everywhere is a good way to protest? This is ridiculous, seriously, what do these people think they will accomplish? Do they even have stated goals? They appear to be just another pointless mob, that is wasting city resources, money and taxes that we all pay, claiming that their rights are being violated when they aren’t doing more than just causing trouble. GET OFF THE STREETS!

  13. Dana on November 13, 2011 at 2:16 pm

How can people even be proud to be part of occupy Portland? I can’t even believe the amount of trash hauled off. Who is paying for this? Who is paying all the extra wages for the Police? That’s right, as a tax payer, I am! This is beyond peaceful, it is disturbing.

  14. Robert on November 13, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I like how this movement thinks they speak for the whole 99%, I am part of the “99%” and only wish to see this garbage ended. I hope the police hurry up and clean out this mess. You guys are through, finally. Get a real job, contribute to society rather than camp in a park that the rest of us “99%” have to pay to fix. Dumbasses

  15. mike on November 13, 2011 at 2:29 pm

The police should be more sensitive to the wishes of the protesters.
If they find someone determined to stay where they are, the
police should just help them realize their dream by handcuffing
them to an immovable object and walking away. They could come
back in a week to see if the protester’s objectives have changed
and help them realize their new goals.
Cooperation is always better than confrontation.
    Give ‘em what they want.

  16. Portland resident on November 13, 2011 at 2:51 pm

The 99% of Portland residents wants the 1% “Occupy Portland” to clean up and leave ASAP. We support free speech but we do not support vandalism or disruptions to residents and businesses in our great city.
    - I know this will be filtered off the forum because Occupy Portland does not really believe in free speech. They only believe in disruption and distruction.

  17. Richard on November 13, 2011 at 3:00 pm

I’m disappointed that the encampment has been cleared away by the police, but just because the occupied encampment is gone, does not mean the movement in Portland is not relevant anymore to the 99%. There are people in the 99% that are hurting because of the 1% –the Big Banks, and Wall Street. We can still make our movement in Portland relevant with Rally’s & Marches….GA meetings can still be held, and communication to the media, and public is important….when the weather gets better in the spring then we can possibly regroup and occupy….but I suggest this time taking more care to keep out the troublemakers and homeless that have a different agenda than the Occupy Portland movement… the movement in Portland is still in it’s beginning so let’s make it better in the coming months….

    • Patrice on November 13, 2011 at 3:14 pm

I agree 100% although homeless folks are part of the 99% too and often are homeless because of the inequities.

    • bob on November 13, 2011 at 4:04 pm

In the meantime, why don’t you all work to elect Ron Paul – the ONLY candidate who wants to end the Federal Reserve, and end the Military Empire

      Ron Paul 2012!!

    • Robert M. Koretsky on November 13, 2011 at 5:35 pm

I agree with Richard, Occupy is just transitioning
to another phase- let’s hope that this eviction filters
out the criminal element( not necessarily the homeless),
and in the next round we can learn from the 37 day
encampment, and move to occupy the city, the state,
and then the country and the world. This is only the
      beginning.

    • Anonymous on November 13, 2011 at 7:26 pm

I think protesters should march to Washington D.C. Camping in parks is not getting the message across anymore.

    • Ant on November 14, 2011 at 5:26 am

“…but I suggest this time taking more care to keep out the troublemakers and homeless that have a different agenda than the Occupy Portland movement…”

And prey tell what is your agenda if its not to protect the troublemakers (i.e. anarchists? junkies?) and homeless in society.

I am very suspect of anyone in a movement who would not consider the most marginalised in our communities before anyone else.

Otherwise it is doomed to fail.

These so called ‘troublemakers and homeless’ are your natural allies.

It be your way soon the way the banana republic of America is crumbling.

      Careful what you wish for.

  18. J on November 13, 2011 at 3:14 pm

We, the 99% must continue to organize. Even if we can’t occupy the camp, we must make our message HEARD! I would personally recommend ALL people currently banking with the BIG banks (B of A, Citi, Wells Fargo, etc.) move your accounts & banking to a CREDIT UNION. Pick a local one, the smaller the better, you’ll get better service, less fees, etc. anyway.

If only 25% of the people currently banking with the BIG ones did that, I’m 100% confident they would START to get a message. (I’m not sure they’d do much about it, but they’d realize something was up!)

We need daily marches, and if we do ever get to start camping again we MUST show that we can help police the few trouble-makers / anarchists / whatever that WEAKEN our message with their ill-made decisions. This is CRUCIAL. POWER & PEACE to the 99%!!

  19. A real Portland resident on November 13, 2011 at 3:16 pm

The 99% of Portland residents wants the 1% “Occupy Portland” to clean up and leave ASAP. We support free speech but we do not support vandalism or disruptions to residents and businesses in our great city.

    Please go home.

  21. aaron armsworthy on November 13, 2011 at 3:30 pm

Im watching this on t.v. and it looks like they have you guys pinched in is there anyway you guys could split up and get behind the police line or get another demonstration comin down the street behind the police then i think the police would evacuate as long as they got a line on you guys they will keep pushing but if they were to feel surrounded they will evacute to take up new positions and tensions will die down this can be done peacefully, i wish i could be there

The camp had to go, even those of us who support the movement recognize this. It was not united the city behind the cause.

The peaceful outcome of the camp closure is a win for all parties.

Portland remains friendly to protesting and public rallies.

Our Police have just shown places like Oakland that patience and rule of law win the day over thuggery.

The Protesters have shown that they really mean non-violent, but that they also aren’t going away just because someone tells them to.

Chalk it up as a win and start working on the next steps.

  24. TJ on November 13, 2011 at 4:36 pm

i see you wont post the truth, I leave a comment earlier and you know you were wrong in not allowing such truth to be posted to your site. Your ridiculousness, you want the right of freedom of speech yet you wont allow my earlier comment to be posted to your site that spoke the truth. Your awesome!

  25. Elizabeth on November 13, 2011 at 5:28 pm

Thank God! Thank you Portland Police!!!

  26. aaron armsworthy on November 13, 2011 at 5:34 pm

yeah looks like you guys are movin around more thats good to see,you really need to think militantly stay organized you can do it peacefully but you need to think like cops, the cops are now goin to run around in groups of 10-20s lookin for weak numbers when they find them they will bring up reinforcements try to stay in big groups and dont let them isolate you when they show reinforcements merge groups together to match their numbers but always leave numbers to come in from behind them, they will always look to come at you head on its the only way systematically employ what they would call a civil use of force if they feel surrouned at all times and cannot corner you they will give up.They only have a couple of options to try to surround isolated small groups or just surround the whole crowd which would look like a massacre and they dont want that or give up,but cops will only fight in a situations their numbers allow they will not get in a mismatch of numbers unless they had you pinned in like they did i was really worried then they could have tear gassed you and pushed you but tear gas is less effective when you spread out

  27. jordan on November 13, 2011 at 8:12 pm

second phase coming up it will be so much better….everything happens for a purpose….the second coming of occupy portland coming soon stay tuned.

  28. aaron armsworthy on November 13, 2011 at 9:31 pm

What cracks me up about this is these spoilt educated protesters who apparently have some money they want to tax the rich and redistribute the wealth but the criticize the homeless vagrants at the protest as degenerates who are just there for a free meal its comical, these kids are confused, it wasnt wall street that bankrupted america that was a cover up for the troops raping the country the last 10 years, and a lot of your protesters are vets on the government dole i as a working man have to pay the vets pension, healtcare gi bill etc. yet i have none of these benefits what in the world is he protesting about? As a working man i am more concerened about having to pay off the vet and future generations of cops and soldiers than i am some guy whos down at wall street trying to make a few bucks and mind you i will never have to pay the guy on wall streets pension or healthcare, like i said i think the militant government has inspired these protest to divert attention from the fact they raped and robbed this country and literally held us at gunpoint and now they are pinning the rap on wall street.$

    • patrick on November 14, 2011 at 6:26 am

Vilifying those without homes when there are real issues out there (which caused their plights) is pretty lame.

      • aaron armsworthy on November 14, 2011 at 7:48 am

were you talkin to me, cause im 43 years old, i have busted my ass for 25 years and have never had a home,i work and live in a truck for basically food,i have no plumbing or nuthin,i totally support the homeless and think they are more important to this cause than some student tuition.and how come my other comments have not been approved are you sensoring me, i would like to get involved in this movement but you guys are totally confused and make no sense it has to be militantly inspired to sniff out dissenters petraues and the boys can be very clever.

  29. Barry Secrest on November 14, 2011 at 8:59 am

Thanks for the response Adrian Dejerk, and yes there are a few things that the Tea Party and the OWS movement have in common, just as there are a few things that Humans and fireflies have in common. But that does not makes us one in the same. Your OWS protest rails at the sympton while the Tea Party Protests rail at the disease itself. The OWS seeks to mend the damage with the equivalent of dark-aged bloodletting while the Tea Party uses modern day micro-surgery in cutting out and replacing infected areas. Your protests seeks economically crippling Collectivism while the Tea Party seeks individual responsibility and an end to corporate favoritism, and the goal of fiscal sanity. Sorry, but our two movements will never find common ground. But we applaud your right to protest non-violently and will fight for it….and yet, squatting is not exactly our idea of effective action, I should point out.
    Best Regards~Barry

  30. mike on November 14, 2011 at 4:30 pm

When are the occupiers gonna hire someone who can think???

    Point1:

Let’s say you want light in your kitchen. You’re in the bedroom,
so you flip the light switch. Hmmm…no light in the kitchen.
Let’s invite some people over to flip the bedroom light switch harder.
Hmmm, still no light in the kitchen. Maybe if we trash the bedroom,
that’ll make some light in the kitchen.
    Darn, why ain’t this workin’?????

People change their behavior for only one reason…they think their personal overall
existence will be better if they change.
The 1% control life as we know it. They will not change their behavior
unless they think their PERSONAL overall existence will improve.

Occupy portland accomplished some things. They trashed some parks and spent
a lot of money on police. This cost the 99% money. It diverted scarce
resources from other programs that would have benefited the 99%.
Sorry, Charlie, we can’t open the homeless shelter because we spent the
    money on police overtime.
They reduced the sales of downtown merchants.
Name ONE 1%er who was influenced to defect to the 99% AND had any ability
    to change anything at all.

Occupy Wall Street is closer to the mark, but is still ineffective.
You gotta put the pain where the ability to change is. Change happens only when a
specific individual feels that change will benefit him DIRECTLY.
You think a single wall street banker felt his way of life was threatened? He cares about ONE thing: How big will his bonus
    be this year.
    You want
change, you’re probably outa luck. The 1% control everything. You have
zero ability to fix that. Best you can hope for is to elect politicians
who want change AND have some ability to effect it.
Bottom line is that you can’t afford to get elected unless you’re one
of the 1% and have support from a bunch of other 1%ers.

    Point2:

My kid is a trouble maker. I want his behavior to change.
“You’re a sorry excuse for a human being.”
    “I hate you”
“I wish you were never born.”
    “You’ll never amount to anything.”
Darn, I just can’t get through to this kid.
Think I’ll smack him around a little.
    Nope, that didn’t help.
Let’s report him to the cops and put him in jail.
Darn, I’ve tried everything on this kid…he just won’t
    reform…

If you don’t like the current situation, you need to describe
what you DO want. You need a PLAN…a detailed comprehensive
plan that has a chance of resulting in what you want.
This plan has to be vetted by scholars and smart rational people
    currently involved in industry/government.
And 51% of the voting populace has to agree on that plan
when they express their desires at the polls.

A further complication for an economic plan is that it has
to work worldwide. You just can’t just create jobs in the
USA by eliminating imports. You can’t fix a worldwide problem
unilaterally. And greed prevents worldwide consensus.

One of the biggest defects in a two-party political system is
that it’s a two-party system. A balance of opposing forces
results in INACTION…or at least compromised action that
produces as much harm as good. Most don’t have a plan,
but they sure know that they don’t like the other guy’s plan.
Our current form of government has many of the bad characteristics
of a dictatorship without the the advantage of unified
    vision and control.

You need an organized movement. The Tea Party was an attempt at that.
ORGANIZE into a single movement. Opposing factions won’t fix it.
Aggregations in a public part won’t fix it.

    Point 3:

The driving force for every living thing is self-preservation aka GREED
    aka instant gratification.
Been that way for billions of years.
    It AIN’T GONNA CHANGE!!!
The ONLY course of action is to exploit that greed.
You must find a way to harness the forces of nature to achieve your goals.
Standing in the street and singing kumbaya ain’t gonna help nobody.

The world economy is busted. And it’s busted because of decades of
greed. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.
    We’ve got too many people.
We’re depleting the world’s resources at an unsustainable rate.
And it’s rapidly increasing. Huge populations are just starting
    to experience the industrial revolution.

For decades, do-gooders in the USA have worked to raise the
standard of living worldwide. If only someone had done the math,
they’d have realized that this happens by dragging the US standard
    of living DOWN.

Anybody stopped to think that, in the eyes of the world, WE
are the 1%. The world would be better off if we disassembled
the USA and spread the wealth around. And they sure have the
votes (and the nukes) to do it. Thank your lucky stars that you live in the
greatest country in the world and “they” don’t get to vote.

The 1% get richer by exporting jobs and importing cheap labor.

What’s the easiest way to fix a 10% unemployment problem???
    Easy, reduce the population 10%.

    Bottom Line:
It’s a complex problem that won’t be fixed by trashing a public park.
Somebody needs to come up with a viable PLAN.

I’m thankful that I had the good fortune to live through the
greatest period of prosperity that the wold will ever know.
Hopefully, I’ll be dead by the time it all goes to hell.
