Occupy Bagdad! Refunds-raiser

November 7, 2011
By

Some if not all contributions given to the the PayPal account of the owner of Red Owl Media have been refunded back to their original donors, due to the ongoing shenanigans of the former finance committee.

This means that we are reaching out to those original donors with a request! Come and spend your refund at Occupy Bagdad. There’s an awesome silent auction at 6:30 with tons of locally donated items. Then there’s a sweet comedy show from 8-10pm. It’s all followed by a viewing of “The People Speak.” It’s based on Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States. Come and learn a little more. Bring friends out that “don’t get it”. If they don’t get it after Tuesday night, then they’ve got to have their head examined.

10 bucks!

Hope to see you all there.

Please join us for an exciting election evening, Tuesday October November 8th, at Bagdad Theater to benefit Occupy Portland. Festivities start with a silent auction at 6:30pm, followed by four comedians, and the film “The People Speak.”

Tickets are $10, all proceeds will go to support Occupy Portland’s ongoing efforts and park restoration!

Auggie Smith, winner of both San Francisco & Seattle’s International Comedy Competitions in 2010

Based on Howard Zinn’s book, “A People’s History of the United States,” the documentary looks at America’s struggles with war, class, race, and women’s rights.

    Ha Ha. Losers.

I love how your whole OP movement can only survive by getting handouts from others. OP generates nothing of value.

I’m not surprised, since the collective OP message is “gimme, gimme, I’m entitled to _____”

We are the working class we built this country.

It’s true. Occupations would not succeed without contributions from people who support taking a stand against the greed of the 1%. There’s a reason why there are over 1600 occupations worldwide, all existing because supporters believe in the message. Some occupations are in towns with very low populations of extremely impoverished folks. Other occupations face adversity from large populations confronting systemic hardships, making it difficult to get the message out right away. Portland is an example of this. It requires that some resources be spent dealing with those hardships first and educating everyone why those hardships exist. So please understand, we’re here to come up with solutions. We’re also in one of the cities more heavily populated with the extremely impoverished. Blame it on the weather.

We can no longer sit quietly in our homes, cursing the world. We are occupying to bring solutions to the table. What are your ideas?

I would appreciate if you would please stop accusing the ‘former’ finance committee- as some of us were black-listed by some anonymous people. Except for Bryan Howarth and probably 3 other people- the rest of us have NO information regarding any new developments. Please put credit and blame where it’s due. You continue to drag a group of us through the mud who have nothing to do with current affairs. I’m disappointed in the lack of maturity of the people who update some of the things on the front page. Just because some of us attended finance meetings does not mean we should be continually linked by memes through bad statements such as ‘shenanigans from the previous finance committee’. Use names and facts or stfu.

“Due to an issue processing earlier donations, many contributions given to to the previous “Red Owl Media” PayPal account have been refunded.”

    FTFY.
