A coalition of environmental groups will rally and march in downtown Portland Sunday, November 6th from 2-4pm. Our goal is to build local awareness and support to stop the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would run from the Alberta Tar Sands to the Texas Gulf Coast.
The Tar Sands oil contains toxins such as mercury, lead, arsenic and benzene. The oil companies want to build the Keystone XL pipeline through America’s heartland, through farms, wild areas and the precious Ogalalla Aquifer, a water source for 8 states. Those companies want to take that Tar Sands oil, delivered by an extremely unreliable pipeline and have it burned up in the form of marketable fuel, thereby bringing even higher levels of carbon into the atmosphere.
Science demands that we stop carbon emissions. We need to pressure Obama to deny the 1,700 mile Keystone XL pipeline application. This rally and march will also bring awareness and support to push Wyden and Blumenauer’s call to investigate the State Department. In October, it was revealed that the State Department process has been corrupted by federal-employee and contractor interaction with pipeline owner TransCanada. We encourage you to come out on Sunday, bring a friend, march with us…and be loud!!

I AM YOU. I AM 99%. I PARTICIPATED FROM DAY ONE. BEFORE THIS ALL ENDS BADLY, AND THE CONDITION OF THE CAMPS SAYS IT MUST END BADLY, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ATTEMPT AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO VOTE TO DISBAND AND RESTORE THE SITE. THE MOVEMENT SUFFERS FROM EACH DAY’S CONTINUATION. THE MOVEMENT IS NOT THE ENCAMPMENT. SERIOUSLY CONSIDER THIS. THEN WE MOVE FORWARD1
I hope all of the other states does not rope Eastern Oregon into the left side of this state. How much money has the occupy portland crap cost the tax payers with extra law enforcement to let them violate the city laws of Portland? How much will it cost the tax payers of protland to clean up the crap that is left behind after the protesters find a new shinny toy to pay with? I can only guess that most of the protesters are unemployed and dont pay taxs so they really dont have anything to complain about. Get a job, get some bills, get a lift and get a clue. Pack your bags and move someplace else if you dont like it…..
that didn’t work so well. try again, slightly different link

and perhaps lose this comment, too.
Feeling eager to be connected to those around the world and those folks in D.C. through those who live and work and resist nearest me. See you there! jimmy t.
Thank you Occupy Portland for representing us–the 99%–with your ongoing presence and dedication.
It is the unequal concentration of wealth and abuse of power by the elites that is the root cause of he environmental destruction that is killing all life on this planet. Stand in solidarity with the end of tar sands extraction-which if allowed to proceed full scale will destroy the climate.
