Most people see the ‘occupiers’ as a joke and in the end, NOTHING will change.
There will come a time when the occupy charade will become old—and too expensive to allow to continue with their little camp out and it WILL be ugly and moreover, MOST Americans will support the police over the occupiers.
Additionally, there will be overwhelming support for police force as necessary to stop this nonsense…
It’s coming…..and I’ll be watching and cheering.
Dear occupiers,
I am sincerely trying to understand the methodology and governance of this local chapter of OWS. The GA minutes have been a valuable tool for discussion and consensus within my circle, the neighborhood GA if you will. However, since 10/29 4 nights of GA minutes have not been posted.
I can’t attend the GA meetings and am dependent upon the transparency of the org. to keep me informed.
Please post the missing minutes and keep them updated. If you can’t or have instituted a change, I think you owe the group out here and explanation.
Thanks for posting this.
Article Five of the United States Constitution describes the process whereby the Constitution may be altered. Altering the Constitution consists of proposing an amendment and subsequent ratification.
Amendments may be proposed by either two-thirds of both houses of the United States Congress or by a national convention. This convention can be assembled at the request of the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the several states. To become part of the Constitution, amendments must then be ratified either by approval of the legislatures of three-fourths of the states or ratifying conventions held in three-fourths of the states
Dear occupiers,
I propose that this is where we are going and the citizens of PDX, the mayor of PDX, the state legislatures and the governor can help get there….but only IF you engage them. This is an opportunity for Portland and Oregon to become role models in this transformation and show everyone how it is done.
But, you can’t get there from here. Here is time and energy wasted on managing the tent city infrastructure. Here is attracting lawlessness and human beings who just don’t have the capacity to make this happen. Their capacity being limited by a lack of sobriety and resultant decision making and consensus impairment as well as individuals who are intent on making this movement an exclusive uber-subversive f**k America private club.
National Convention anyone? I say start in Oregon with ALL the occupy movements from all cities, then move to the state level.
The tent city and civil disobedience has served it’s purpose. The approach of the PPB has been transformed…there has been no violence or police brutality…the PPB are well aware brutality will not be tolerated, please dont’ push them into a situation where they have to push and shove and defend themselves. The mayor has demonstrated a willingness to allow camping, even with the roaring disapproval from many, many citizens of the 99%. And beyond that, he wants to help. (although Bloomberg has allowed camping, don’t think he is truly helping…) Sam is essentially a free agent now with almost two decades as a dedicated public servant…he knows the system, this is an opportunity, please don’t waste it.
Thanks for posting this in a timely fashion
Supreme Court decisions can only be overturned in two ways:
Legitimate Methods
The US Supreme Court reverses a decision on an earlier case by making a contradictory decision on a current case.
Congress and the States can overturn a decision by amending the Constitution.
Overturn corporate personhood, National Convention people! Start it now!
Consider that closing you account with a big bank might be exactly what they want. Banks are cash rich and loan poor right now, and one of the fastest ways to improve their bottom line is dumping consumer accounts that require a lot of effort to service but aren’t currently producing money by being lent back out to earn interest for the bank. I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘bank local’ is a farce constructed by wall street to shed ‘low quality’ accounts and foist them onto the community banks that are already at a disadvantage.
