At OCCUPY PORTLAND
Terry Schrunk Plaza
SW 3rd and Madison
Portland Copwatch has arranged with contacts at Occupy Portland to conduct a Your Rights and the Police Seminar. Communities of poor people, people of color, activists, youth and other vulnerable folks are often targeted by our system, and it is important to know our rights. At this training we will walk through the basics of what to do when stopped by the police, basics of how to safely and legally observe police, and how to file complaints. There will be an attorney present to answer questions. There will be a focus on actual and potential interactions between Occupy Portland activists and the police.
Portland Copwatch is a project of Peace and Justice Works, a group promoting non-violent conflict resolution on local, national and international levels. Portland Copwatch was founded in 1992 and exists to promote police accountability through citizen action. Its goals include a Police Bureau free from corruption, brutality and racism.
This FREE EVENT is open to anyone interested in knowing their legal rights when interacting with the police. Invite your friends!

This is why people are afraid…of you. After the mayor has very specifically stated that no other parks can be occupied you nevertheless have very specifically stated in the GA minutes that the Jamison park occupation will “break curfew hours”. You are purposely planning an illegal activity to create a conflict with the police and get media attention. As you stated again in your GA minutes “to get police/media attention”. On top of this, you are now strategically educating Occupy Portland for the “actual and potential interactions between activists and police”. You want conflict and you plan on screaming police brutality.(I think the police are part of that 99%)
You absolutely DO NOT represent the 99%, you are unfocused, mired in self-government conflicts and management issues. (37 committees for 500 people? that’s hysterical..)YOU are “THE OTHER 1%” who has nothing to do with my life which also has been negatively impacted by the issues in Washington, continued lack of regulation and legal consequences.
You are fired!
