Using, wherever possible, locally produced and sustainable ingredients that are healthy and nutritious. A model that builds community, offers a hand up, and helps to end food waste.

Ne Si’ka is a full service restaurant in the quality food tradition that allows patrons to pay as they are able. Suggested prices will be posted and those with means can pay the suggested price, or more if they so choose. All proceeds will go into the non-profit and for fighting hunger. Those who are unable to pay will have opportunities to volunteer at the restaurant in whatever capacity they are willing or able. This may be in the kitchen, the community garden, or a variety of other options. No one is turned away for inability to pay. The goal is to create a completely non-biased and comfortable atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and has a seat at the table. While we help to alleviate hunger and food insecurity, the broader intention is to help create and foster a greater sense of community.
Everyone, regardless of means, has the right to dine with dignity and have access to a quality, nourishing, thoughtfully prepared meal.

There are many goals surrounding our project. Some big, some small, but they all add up to building a stronger healthier community that works for everyone. Offering a hand up to those who need it while offering amazing and gratifying opportunities to those with the ability to help. All surrounding quality food from the heart.

But how could they know? That is why we are launching a new advertisement campaign to raise awareness ourselves and provide opportunity where none has been before. Our goal is to raise $1,885 (with taxes and fees by Indiegogo, that gives us $1,750) to establish 25 “Michalangelo” ceiling ads inside TriMet buses and MAX lines to last us about 4 weeks. To mark these historic events, the Peace Network and Occupy Portland will be hosting the Occupy Portland, Not Afghanistan two-day event. We come together to demand an end to wars and military occupations; money for jobs, education, health care, housing and the environment, not war; the restoration of constitutional rights and the importance of main street, not wall street! On Saturday October 6th we will gather at noon in Shemanski park (South Park blocks at Salmon) for a rally and march. Speakers for the rally include Saba Ahmed, Carol Urner, Brian Wilson and Ahjamu Umi, among others. We will also celebrate with music from General Strike, Patchwork Family, Keith Baich, Mo Mack and the Raging Grannies! Then on Sunday October 7th, there will be teach-ins and workshops conducted at PCC Cascade (North Killingsworth and Albina) starting at noon with a panel discussion by Brian Wilson, Saba Ahmed, Sami Alloy, Steve Goldberg and Ahjamu Umi.
You are cordially invited to help us celebrate the holy matrimony of Corporate Person and Angela. We are saddened that we could not attend the wedding, however, our beloved Angela is coming to town and we would like to throw her a fancy wedding reception. Come on out for the wedding reception!! We will be at Bend over America…I mean…Bank of America at 121 SW Morrison from 3-5pm on Friday, August 24th. “In a bold move to highlight the absurdity of Citizens United and Corporate Personhood, members of Envision Seattle, the group working towards getting I-103 on the ballot (The Community Bill of Rights for Seattle), held a wedding in Westlake Park on Tuesday, July 17th. The event was well-attended by a wide variety of Seattle activists, organizers and curious by-standers. A marriage license was indeed issued, after the wedding party proceeded to King Co. offices to file the necessary forms. This may well set a precedent in the United States, as this is believed to be the first time a corporation has married a person.”

On Wednesday, August 22, at 8:30 am the Oregon Progressive Party will lead a demonstration outside of Portland City Hall to announce a draft City Resolution banning the use of surveillance drones in Portland airspace and demanding that the Portland City Council adopt such a resolution to protect the Constitutional rights of its citizens. Since the FAA began issuing certificates earlier this year for public and private entities to fly unmanned drones in U.S. airspace, hundreds of cities and towns have seen local police and sheriff departments request the use of drones. Not only are drones being used to bomb and murder civilians in our unending and illegal wars in the Middle East and Afghanistan, they are being actively pursued by local governments and federal entities to be used for police purposes. Just as with the Old Town Spy Cams, we are asking the Portland City Council to ban the use of surveillance drones in Portland airspace to prevent Portland from becoming a Surveillance State and protecting our 1st and 4th Amendments rights.
Have you heard? Mayor Sam Adams and commissioners, Randy Leonard and Nick Fish, all support fluoridating our water. Even though this has been put to a vote with the people three times, and has been shot down every time, they plan to still push a plan through to add fluoride to our water. This will cost taxpayers $5 million!! Money that can be better spent for teachers and keeping our schools open, feeding and sheltering the houseless or healthcare for those who cannot afford it. Please come out Wednesday and support keeping our water clean and chemical free. People should have the right to choose what goes into their bodies!! Freak Out About Our Water!! Come on out to the City Counsel meeting at 9:30am on Wednesday, August 22nd and tell the mayor and city counsel that Portland doesn’t want fluoride in our water. Rally Against Fluoridation!! Rally in front of City Hall at noon on Tuesday, August 21st to say no to Fluoride.

Trial dates are likely to be finalized at this hearing, so it’s important that you attend to make sure you’ll be in town for your trial date. Some dates were already tentatively set at the last hearing (see tentative dates at the end of the article here). If you miss your trial, you will be defaulted.
If you miss your trial, you will be defaulted. Other defendants who have

so already. The number is 503-988-3018. *If you get any run around, you

After viewing the video in the Discovery Office, if you need a /copy/ of
video for your defense (e.g. you need to view it on better equipment or
need to slow it down) and you can’t afford to pay $30+ per CD, we should
try to raise some funds for it. If anyone needs this or if anyone has
ideas for a quick fundraiser, let me know and I’ll help get the word out.

Other upcoming hearings: Kathryn Garcia’s trial for May Day is now
scheduled to begin August 27th. Please come show your support. Tequila,
Pablo, and No Name’s trials in Beaverton were also rescheduled for later
in August. Watch the calendar at elkpdx.org for more details. If you have another hearing or trial date coming up and you would like support, please call the ELK hotline (503-902-5340).
