When: September 27th Where: PCC Cascade, Moriarity Hall, 705 N. Killingsworth Time: 7-9pm They’re Not Heavy, They’re My Neighbors!! We Are Oregon and the Black Working Group are pulling together with a number of organizations involved in resisting evictions – Tenants, Squatters, Homeowners, the Houseless — to call for Community Agreements on Housing Justice & Housing as a Human Right. Organizing for the Town Hall are the Black Working Group, We Are Oregon, Right to Dream Too, Sisters of the Road, Community Alliance of Tenants, Blazing Arrow Organization, Decolonize PDX, Portland Solidarity Network, and the City Hall homeless vigil. The idea is to organize communities to cometogether (through canvassing and town halls) to draw up their own agreements establishing eviction free zones and the occupation of empty buildings, with rapid response networks.
When: Thursday, September 6th at 9:00am Where: 1900 S.W. 4th Ave #3000 Alicia Jackson, the woman whose home was liberated on May Day, is battling the city once again. She needs help collecting the $413 needed to get her water turned on. The city told her that if she can not demonstrate proof that her gutters are fixed and she has running water, everyone in the house will be evicted. Please help her keep her home. If we all just give a little, we can continue to maintain a roof for a wonderful person. If you are interested in donating, you can contribute by using the wepay account below, or you can also donate at the event on Thursday. https://www.wepay.com/donations/95951 https://www.facebook.com/events/362943187113093/ Hope to see everyone out there on Thursday!!
