Confirmed information as posted on the facebook page:

Bus is not guaranteed.

If bus does happen…..

Bus trip will a number of days, round trip estimated from previous experience with NU providing buses is around 5 days there 5 back, being at OWS for 4 to 5 days. NU will let us know after we secure the numbers going.

We need to have a very accurate count of those than can surely attend because of the cost, paid for by the Nurses Union. Their concern is because Nato cost 100K and some seat were not filled from west coast.

We all may have to help convince the Nurses union that we mean to go by giving a 5 dollar donation to secure a seat (If you can’t find 5 dollars to get a round trip ride across country then…) I will help anyone figure out how to raise money if need be.

So if you cannot go please let Jessica or me know and we will remove you from page, for a few days so we can have an accurate count, you can rejoin after we figure who is going and when, if we can convince NU that we know who is going and will not change their mind. Smile.
Also for those interested in going, OWS has created this handy guide:

Occupy Portland has joined with other occupy movements in the largest West Coast port cities to organize mass mobilizations and community pickets to blockade the ports on December 12, 2011. A community blockade at the Port of Portland, publicly-owned space, will disrupt business-as-usual for what organizers have termed “Wall Street on the Waterfront.”

Organizers say the shutdown will focus public attention on how the 1% use the ports, international trade, and even the spirit of Christmas to profit off the 99%.

“One way that the 1% amasses wealth is through the ports. For instance, Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs is a majority share of Stevedore Services of America (SSA), which has terminals & does business at the Port of Portland,” says Kari Koch, one of the organizers, “Shut Down Wall Street on the Waterfront is a coordinated effort from the occupy movement to target the corporations that contribute to the vast inequality of wealth and power in our economic system.”

Portland will shut down the ports to show solidarity with longshore workers facing a vicious union-busting attack by the EGT grain conglomerate in Longview, Washington. Bunge Ltd is the largest partner in ETG and reported $2.5 billion in profit in 2010. The labor dispute in Longview involves EGT violating the union contract and bringing in non-ILWU workers on the ports.

“The rank and file of the labor movement not only supports the occupy movement, but are a part of the occupy movement. Organized and unorganized working people are struggling to keep their homes and their jobs, while the 1% – like EGT – reaps record profits,” says Kathryn Cates, one of the organizers, “Because the holiday season has been exploited by the 1% to make money off working people, December is a peak business time for the ports and the wealthiest corporations. On December 12 we will show that the holidays are about family & community not profits and exploitation.”

The longshoreman’s union, representing many port workers, has historically not crossed picket lines, community or otherwise.

As of December 5th, nine West Coast occupations have responded to the call to shut down Wall Street on the Waterfront, including Occupy LA/Long Beach, Occupy San Diego, Occupy Tacoma, Occupy Seattle, Occupy Anchorage and Occupy Oakland.

2PM On Saturday, December 3rd join Occupy Portland as we march from the Salmon Springs Fountain to occupy another park!

Why? Because the grievances and injustices within our society have not been redressed. Because we have the right to peacefully assemble on public property to voice those grievances, and we’re not done! Because we stand in solidarity with the Occupy Movement across this entire country that has been pursued, persecuted and brutalized for exercising the very rights our country is supposed to defend! Because it’s about damn time!

Bring your tents, your sleeping bags, and prepare yourself for a night of non-violent protest while we celebrate the reoccupation of another park with live music and a showing of the film Meltdown: The Secret History of the Global Financial Collapse. Bring your own musical instruments, hula hoops, food for the potluck and positive attitudes! We will be having a Reoccupation Open Forum starting at 2PM at Salmon Springs Fountain at the south end of Waterfront Park. THEN WE MARCH, starting at 3PM, to occupy another park! We have our committees, our working groups, and our experience from the previous occupation. We have a plan, we have sustainability, and we have security culture.

We just need you!
