Strike Debt/Rolling Jubilee Portland – Add on Facebook!

Strike Debt (http://strikedebt.org/), from Occupy Wall St. in New York, is creating a debtors’ movement with education, networking and debtors’ assemblies resisting the finance industry’s main form of dominance. Rolling Jubilee (http://rollingjubilee.org/), from Strike Debt, intercepts the “debt marketplace” created by financial institutions selling old debt for pennies on the dollar to collection agencies, who then pursue debtors, often by illegal means. Instead of profiting, however, RJ cancels debt with donated money, and to date they have raised $613,519 – worth $12.3 MILLION in the “market.” Strike Debt has already spread across the US, and it’s now time to raise trouble here and discover how the idea of Jubilee can manifest locally.
