The shooting of Michael Brown occurred on August 9, 2014, in Ferguson, Missouri. Brown, an unarmed black man, was shot to death by a white police officer, Darren Wilson. The disputed circumstances of the shooting, and resulting protests and civil unrest, have caused significant controversy in the United States.
Please join Lewis & Clark Professor Reiko Hillyer; S. Bobbin Singh, J.D., Executive Director of the Oregon Justice Resource Center; community activists Giovanni Blair McKenzie & Lakeitha Elliott; and organizers from #DontShootPDX community action plan for “Beyond Ferguson – Conversation and Action.”
Each panelist will share information; then, we will shift to community conversation about reactions and action steps we each can take. This event is free and open to the public.
