Organizers for the 3rd Occupy National Gathering are working their tails off trying to build an effective and inclusive gathering for the 99%. That said, you may have some questions regarding what’s confirmed for the Gathering. Here’s a brief list of your FAQs answered!

Q) Where in Sacramento will the Gathering take place?

A) Locations for the Gathering will vary for each day. We have confirmed that the first day, July 31st, we will gather at State Capitol Park, and the final day, Aug. 3rd, will we be at Southside Park. Occupy Sacramento is looking into 10 possible venue options for the second and third day, Aug. 1st ~ 2nd, with a self-imposed deadline on Jun. 9th. We’ll inform you what happens!

Q) Are there themes being created for each day?

A) While the 1st Occupy National Gathering in 2012 did not have daily themes, this year there is constant discussion on solidifying daily themes that are broad and popular enough to cover as many complex issues of social, political and economic injustice as possible. One proposal is “Getting the World’s Attention” — a non-violent call for general strike on either Aug. 1st or 2nd.

Q) Are there any speakers confirmed?

A) Of course! Unfortunately, it’s too early to announce a list. Adding yourself or someone you know as a guest speaker is easy as sending an email to  Don’t forget to introduce yourself with a short bio and history!

Q) Where would I find lodging for the night?

A) Folks are looking hard for safe-and-secure camping in backyards, parking lots, parks and natural landscapes, alongside indoor lodging. While creating a centrally-controlled lodging space is difficult, creating a easy-to-use, online network where individuals can connect with each other in their personal accommodations is easy. When planning for your night’s rest, check out our Sharetribe: it’s for rides, services and equipment, too!

Q) Is group transportation being planned?

A) If you don’t have a car and cannot afford to buy a bus, train or plane ticket, attending the Gathering would seem impossible. But here comes our lovely Caravans — large groups of vehicles traveling together to city after city, providing collective carpooling! They not only provide affordable rides, but bring morale, unity and excitement to each city they stop by. Caravans are being created in the Northeast, Southeast, and S. California regions. Come see the I-5/Cascadia Caravan bringing Oregon, Washington and Idaho folks! Looking for a more direct, autonomous route? Sharetribe is your source!
