Stephen Glenn – “V for Vendetta NOT Peace”

Last Tuesday, July 23, Portland City Hall issued an eviction order for our City Hall Prayer Vigil against the “Camping” Ban, then on its 600th day from Dec. 1, 2011. It is yet another attempt by the City to take a uncompromising “out of sight, out of mind” approach to systemic issues and cross...

Portland Copwatch – “Deep frustration regarding the City’s eviction”

Our friends at Portland Copwatch (a local watchdog group documenting police brutality, misconduct and collusion with City government) sent a heated letter yesterday to Mayor Charlie Hales and City Commissioners questioning the constitutionality and rash procedure in evicting our City Hall Vigil against the “Camping” Ban of over 19 months. They were on-site of...

Strike Debt/Rolling Jubilee PDX – 2nd Strategy Meeting!

Debt is a tie that binds the 99%. As individuals, families, and cities, most of us are drowning in debt to Wall St. for the basic things we need to live. Even those of us who do not have personal debt are affected by predatory lending, like from cases of “mistaken identities.” Our essential...

Fourth of the Lie 2013!

July 1, 2013

PKC_3756

Since May 1, 2012, Alicia Jackson has lived quietly and productively in her N.E. house. She is still engaged in a battle against the banks who illegally stole her home in the first place and a part of that battle involves having no water service for that thirteen month period. We want to call people to come out, make contributions to a plan to resolve this problem, and enjoy some great live edutainment and good people! Bring a dish to share, a blanket, some chairs, and let’s build community! This event is being called for by Housing is for Everyone (HIFE). HIFE: Housing Is For Everyone is continuing the fight for quality of life and access to clean water at Alicia Jackson’s home.
