The GA last night was too long and people lost their focus. I love the square as meeting spot, however we need to think about an indoor venue or a way to set up large temp tarp like structure that we can set up and remove as needed as the rain will keep people away....as well as meetings that lose focus do...we are going to lose a lot of people if we don't reorganize and move forward quickly....i saw a lot of people throw up their hands and leave last night..we can't have that happen. Our major strength is our numbers,if we lose people,we lose impact. I'm glad to see our hungry being fed...I was worried about that...we must refrain from all the profanity..we were NOT family friendly last night. I know people are angry and passionate but we have children who attend these events with their parents. I want to bring my granddaughter but until we clean up the profanity I will not. Think about how msm portrays us, we only add credibility to them by behaving this way. Peace, Love, and Light.

The New Common Sense has been going around and was introduced. Yes, I know it is "long" but that is because it is packed with real substance. The basic message is "Kick the illegal new fourth Special Interest Branch out of government and let's unite to force the government to uphold the Constitution again, because if we don't, our issues mean nothing because we will not have a voice again until we get our representation back." It's a GENIUS document, fully compatible with the 99$ Declaration and any other declaration that we or anyone else comes up with. It's above politics and can unite us all.

Think of it as a toolkit, a HUGE soapbox that we can all stand on that is rock solid enough to hold us.

IF we adopt this as another tool in our tool box, it would send an incredibly powerful message to the world and would absolutely help us gain another level.

Please, please, let's make this a priority to at least understand and address it (and hopefully take the powerful step of adopting it). By adopting it, we will prove to the world that we are in fact capable of consensus on something complex and powerful-- something that has real teeth that is a cornerstone of a united cause.

Please, please, try to read, understand and share. Urge all to read so that we can have an informed discussion and reach am informed consensus either way. Every day that we do not invoke that document is an opportunity lost to send the 1% a powerful message that will make them have more respect for us.

I would like to see a page on this site with a list of needs, prioritized, for those who would like to help but can't always be physically present.

you guys are a bunch of dirty shameless punks !! if you mess with that Christmas tree you are going to piss off a lot of hard working Portland residents !! who work hard for an honest living and now have to pay for your destruction to the parks, your message was lost a while ago when your so called movement turned into a homeless druggie camp !! you guys should seriously rethink your message and not allow disruptive behavior to negatively influence your movement like it has already !!

Here's the idea I'd like presented at the GA tonight. I can't be there, but I'll be watching on the livestream.

It's time to leave the strategy of occupying city parks behind. Occupying city parks does not serve as a meaningful way to protest the widening gap between the richest 1% and the remaining 99%. Instead, we need to focus on meaningful and direct ways to target greed at among the top 1% and target those who such greed in the first place.

We spent over a month protesting in the park. How much time was spent protesting at our local main branches of big banks? The main branch of Wells Fargo is a block away from our parks and we never made a meaningful protest presence there. It makes no sense. People should be arrested for not leaving the perimeter we create around banks and investment firms, not parks.

It's time for a new strategy. Call it Occupy 2.0. Direct, meaningful protests in order to get results, even if the only result is making the lives of the greediest of the greedy miserable.

Finally, we need a new strategy for dealing with local media. We need to befriend the media and use them to get our message out. How do we do that? We create newsworthy direct and meaningful protests. And then we invite members of the media to have their members embedded within our group to witness the protests first hand. We need to legally make news. We need to befriend the media and try to do their jobs for them. Remember, the local media are middle class people too. Many of their reporters aren't even full time. They are the 99%. Excluding right wing radio, most of the local media already agree with what we stand for. We need to help them report it.
