i would like to see the meeting minutes more like the NYC minutes. for a while they were just typing up what was said. so that we could read what was said and the points brought up in their words, and also what the final decision was. i feel that absolutely crucial to keep everybody in the loop.

paraphrasing is better than nothing but these snippets leave so much to be desired. for instance:

“proposal regarding facilitation selection & well being
– seconded, added to agenda”

what is that? did anyone name the proposal or say what the proposal actually was? how did anyone know what they were voting for to add to the agenda?

i hope you take this as constructive and consider improvements that can be made. whoever is taking these notes has an extremely important job of informing everyone of what is being said at the GAs.

One suggestion though, if we could take the time to type them up (or take notes on a laptop or something) it would make the page load a little quicker and, mainly, it would make it a lot easier to read.

Bottom line, though: Taking notes/being secretary is tough work, thank you for doing it, thank you for taking the step to get them up however you can.

-logistics and safety meeting, 5pm every day, behind elk statue
-organize daily marches
-GA address finance committee—needs to be developed!! What to do with the money?
-Tent vs Tarp issue? Needs to be discussed tonight
-Smoking area? NW area of this park
-quiet hours @11pm with area designated for playing music
-use robert’s rules of order & have a proper secretary
-sanitation re:dogshit, 1 toilet, & impact of those issues on occupation during lockdown
-GA emergency meeting system & logistics

Decision at 3rd GA [on Tuesday 10-4-11] : No alcohol or drugs, but is individual decision. We are all living together, concern for children & personal safety, volunteers are invited to discuss camp safety, Info at info table.
-Need arrest plan, need arrest training: we propose to train the trainers. Train the trainers meeting 6:45am 10-8 behind elk.

Thank you for posting the GA notes or minutes. It’s great to watch the broad organization work to be effective. Please also post the when and where of marches on the weekends. I’m sure many of us want to participate but have to work during the week. I hope lots of us are participating by donating to the food fund.

I support what is happening I just think there are better ways than camping in a park in front of the police station. The fight going on is not political it is economical. These big banks and corporations buy and sell politicians. They don’t care if we have thousands of people camped out in parks all over the country. It doesn’t hurt them. The majority of the people out here protesting have bank accounts at Bank of America, or Wells Fargo or another big bank and many of these people also have stocks and bonds. At the beginning middle and end of the day the very same people protesting or supporting the companies they are protesting against… The way to really get the point across is to stop banking, buying, and investing in these companies. If thousands or even millions of people around the world stood up and marched into their bank or their stock brokers and withdrew their money and closed their accounts these big businesses would start to notice. Why?? Because they would start losing what they value so highly OUR MONEY… After there is an economic change then and only then will it be possible to have political change. Politicians will always support whomever or whatever gives them the most incentive….

Things have been chaotic and at times lacking focus of what we are protesting/what our demands are. That is to be expected because it is still in it’s infancy pretty much every where outside of Wall Street. I think this movement needs to look at the biggest and most successful social movement in history, the Civil Rights movement. Take on that model of organization and model of effecting change. At some point we have to move beyond occupying a spot. We have to hit them in their pocket book by removing money out of these large banks and striking against buying non-essential goods. We have to get in their face through marches and sit ins while staying non-violent. We need a coherent list of demands like money out of politics, ending corporate personhood, quality teachers & education for everyone, free college, universal healthcare, a living wage, ending government waste, better environmental enforcement, ending corporate welfare, stop sending jobs overseas, bring jobs shipped away back, closing tax loopholes, and increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans. Right now everyone is expressing a individual agenda and there is no collective or national agenda. Do you see us getting there?
