    Dear Occupiers,
I wholeheartedly support your movement, the ideals it represents and the actions you have taken thus far. It is regrettable that the actions of a few have begun to tarnish the work you have started. However, I beseech you, when your deadlines are nigh, please do not tarnish the good work you have done by allowing the media and the “authorities” to paint you in a negative light. In Portland, the mayor had deemed you “unsafe” and whether or not that is merely his subjective opinion, it nevertheless gives him the right to evict you from your current settlements (see the Hague case). However, this does not have to mean the end. Go peacefully, regroup, reenergize and maintain our objective. Change will happen through growth not stagnation. The changes of the 60’s did not happen in days or weeks, but months and years, and employed a variety of tactics from sit-ins and protests to marches and court cases. The change makers of our time are remembered for their peaceful yet persistent efforts. Do not let your 1% speak for you.
    Respectfully submitted.

    Our Land
    Tamar
People of the 99 %, those of the clear majority, we have been told that we live in the greatest nation in the world. A nation of freedom, justice, and equality, a nation where that government, of the people, for the people, and by the people, shall, by the nature of its oath to the people, protect, care for, and provide for its people.
It is a government that, by its own sworn oath of office, shall place that duty above all self interest.
This same government has failed in its promised duty to its people, its country, and its god.
It has allowed for corporate enterprise and other non-personal entities to come before its people, forcing its own people into positions whereby, for the defense of family and community, those recipients of the promised “oath of office,” must fight their own government, and those self-interested corporations for survival, dignity, and equanimity.
Give us, the voters, your constituents, your responsibility of office, our dignity, our sense of social consciousness, and our health.
These are our RIGHTS, by nature, by the constitution that you are sworn to protect and uphold, and by justice.
As your employees, you would have the right to fire us if we didn’t do our job. Well… we are your employer, DO YOUR JOB…

Stand Strong, from one of the 99% that thanks you. We can make a difference!

your movement is vary worth while , you have them on the run , think of a military action , they are feeling it in the wallet , you have suceeded in getting them to spend over 300,000 dollars in just , OVER TIME , they will have to listen to you if they keep spending that kind of money just to monitor your movement , keep them on the run by gathering by the 1000 snds and they have to keep assembling to push you out and then have to leave additional police to watch existing parks they have just move you from ,, this leaving them tired and short handed , we are watching it happen on the news , and you can win this movement and be heard , keep them on the run , and disperse as the right gear assembles , there is big POWER IN NUMBERS , and you are gathering support , you have cell phones to communicate , and inform , good luck

    Dear Occupiers,
While I appreciate the movement and the statement that you are trying to make, one thing is unclear. What is your statement? I see it on your website, and I fully understand what the statement is. Not once did I watch a march or ever see a clear statement be portrayed or conveyed while you occupied the parks in Portland.
What I did see however was a homeless camp develop, drug use and overdoses spiked and crime went up over 40% while you folks occupied.
From the average Joe citizen, I see a bunch of people breaking the law, not caring about the fellow person or small business owner around them. You only cared about survival while you were there.
While I had great respect for the movement when it started, I have lost much respect and almost to the point where I can no longer support anything about the movement.
There are much more professional ways to get your point across and still keep the pressure on Wall Street. But camping out, destroying property and defying the laws that were written will never get it done.
Good luck in your ventures. I don’t expect to see many of you around.

    Respectfully,
    Bill McCartney

Dear Occupiers, as a member of the 60s generation I have been lamenting the fact that people have not demonstrated in the streets, given the high rates of unemployment, the endless wars, the intolerable levels of social and economic inequality, the corruption of government and the decline of institutions. You have seized the moment and I want to encourage you to continue your protests. Our political system is broken, corrupted by money and influence peddling. You have done a great service by drawing attention to these issues. It is important to get more people involved in the actual demonstrations. A lot of people do not have the time to camp out, but they might devote some time to regular demonstrations on weekends. I suggest that you organize such demonstrations in changing locations each week. Perhaps Sunday afternoons.

  9. Katy W on November 15, 2011 at 7:51 pm

I support your efforts 100%. Change is never easy, so don’t give up hope. People have tried to paint the occupy movement as either a bunch of naive twenty-somethings or old hippies and drug addicts. I am a 48 year old professor of adult basic education, too old to be naive, too young to have been a hippy and definitely not a drug user. My co-workers, also professionals, stand behind you and appreciate what you are doing. The corporate controlled media will stop at nothing to make you look bad, but remember that the Arab Spring movement has proven to be successful in countries where dictators control everything and most importantly the media. You will make a difference if you don’t give up. There are millions of us standing behind you. All of us tired of corporate greed. Set concrete goals and don’t be afraid to appoint leadership and know that there are many, many of us who support you. Those who don’t support you aren’t paying attention and have short attention spans, so it’s crucial you make the message easy to understand. The 99/1 image is a perfect example. Keep it simple and you will prevail.
