WHAT: Picket line solidarity with public employee security workers under attack at Port of Portland
WHY: Portland’s working families can’t afford to lose any good-paying, irreplaceable blue collar jobs because of outsourcing at the Port.
Port officials are bending to pressure from multi-million dollar shipping carriers and international terminal operators attempting to slash family-wage jobs and benefits for Portland-area residents.
Unless Port officials address the outsourcing threat, ILWU Local 28 security workers have filed notice they will strike.
